overall i highly recommend this product. my 9 month old plays in this giving me a safe opportunity to run down & do laundry or out to get the mail. she even fell asleep playing in it once! it is large and the black color makes it less obtrusive sitting in our dining room. my only warning is that the first few times i set it up and took it down, it was very difficult. there is a trick to it, unlike its cousin the Pack N Play which is so easy. if you pull the bars way up, almost overextending, and then click or unclick them, you will have more success. also make sure the folding bars on the underside are inside the legs when you do the final fold.

We started off with one of the more expensive brand play pens from a local chain store that I probably shouldn't name, so I also won't talk about their red bullseye logo, just in case it would give them away. Anyway, my confidence in cheap Chinese manufacturing was soon shattered when this play pen fell apart soon after it's first day on the job. I guess it couldn't handle the stress of being set up and folded back together more than the 3-4 times that we used it. After my more financially secure outlaws purchased an expensive Joovy, and I set it up for the first time at their more expensive than mine house, I decided that this was a case where I could justify keeping up with the Joneses. Being of high enough status to be a Prime Amazon member, I naturally went straight to Amazon in my search of the perfect play pen that I wish would come in blue. The only gripes I have about the Joovy, are the fact that it first smelled like somebody farted in the bag before they closed it up for shipping, and the sides aren't tall enough to prevent my wife from crawling out. Other than that, we absofreakinlutely love it, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a play pen that is built to last. Buy cheap twice(or more), or quality once.

This is a really great play yard that is safe, strong and stable. I did a lot of research in search of a suitable "containment" area for my busy one year old and am really pleased with this choice. This thing is built super strong and I like that it does not have a weight limit, unlike my Graco Pack n' Play's 30lb limit. My son is now almost two and the Room 2 really does provide a large and safe play area for when I am trying to get that time in to clean up around the house and cook dinner. It is spacious enough to put several toddlers in it at the same time and because it is bigger my son seems to tolerate playing in it for longer periods of time. It is also very easy to set-up and collapse down since I mostly use it on the weekends. Yes, it is heavier than the Pack n' Play, but I also know I will get several more years of use out of this play yard with a rough and tumble growing boy. So, keep the Pack n' Play for portability and trips out to grandma's house, but get the Joovy Room 2 for every day use in and around the house.

This thing rocks! My Mom has always said, "When you were a baby, we put you in a playpen and it was great." Oooooh that is why I turned out so awesome. I wish we would have gotten this with my first kid (instead of third). So convenient - especially for the crawling baby. Especially if I even want to take a shower before 8pm. I know I can put her in the crib or pack n play (although they are smaller), but those guys are for sleeping and I don't want to mess with that. Can't wait to take this bad boy camping next weekend!
P.S. My husband is a total maven (hard core researcher). He looked at all the possibilities and found this to be the best.

I use this when I am at home and need a safe spot for my 9 month old to play. Also use when we go to the beach, very easy to clean up also. Easy set up and easy take down. I think mat provided is plenty thickness and comfortable for him. Definitely plenty of room for him to crawl around in unlike other play yards and love the color. Would recommened to others wanting a larger play yard.

I am a first time grandmother and I used the Joovy play yard for my 10 month old grandson. It reminded me of the old play pens that I used for my own children BUT....much better!! It was easy to asssemble and was able to roll it to another room or outside. The cover for the bottom pad is soft and cozy for the baby....especially for sleeping! This play yard is soooooo much better than putting the baby in a "pack n' play". Much roomier. Very sturdy and safe. My daughter loved it too and was confident with the safety factor of the play pen when leaving the baby alone. Great product! Oh and one more thing...this was my first purchase from Amazon...fantastic service!

This over-the-hill Grandma keeps my 14 month old granddaughter two-days a week, and I really don't know how I'd make it through the day without this 'Play Yard'! When I need a 'break' she is perfectly content in her 'club-house' (I've folded a plush comforter over the base pad) and there's more than enough room for a collection of her favorite toys! She is so content that I'll frequently find her sound-asleep -- able to 'stretch out' -- for her afternoon nap! It's very sturdy, very easy for me to move, and the mesh 'screening' allows her to enjoy 'Einstein' while she's sitting. Worth every penny (already) - and I'm sure it will survive a couple more additions!

First of all let me say I don't know what I would do without this! My little girl just turned 8 months old and she is all over the place and into everything! Parents you know what I am talking about, you have a mat and all kinds of fun toys and the child wants everything they should not have! This keeps my little girl content and safe. Oh and the sheet that comes with the Joovy is soooo soft! The only thing I can say bad about the item was the instructions were a bit confusing. I am sure part of my problem was as a first time parent it seemed confusing. The toll free number for Joovy out of Texas offered a great bit of help and were very kind. What I learned is you can not lock the arms until you lift the small flap in the center, it must be drawn up in the center, when you are trying to put it together.

Before I had the Joovy Room 2, I had the regular Graco Pack n Play. I felt the pack n play was too small for my son to spend any time at all in. So I ordered this Joovy room 2 and it is so much bigger, its almost the size of the old playpens....i dont know why they ever stopped making them. its great that it comes with the sheet and the carrying bag, because if you get the yellow color the pad gets dirty pretty fast so its very easy to wash the sheet. its alot lower to the ground then the regular pack n plays, so if yur child does climb out its a smaller fall.
i think over all its a good buy for the money.

this his perfect. My son is 9 months old but is as big as most 1 year olds. this play pen is the perfect size for him and his toys!! He takes his naps in there and is very comfortable. It collapses easy once you get the hang of it and is very portable from room to room. Its kind of heavy so I dont think I'll be transporting it anywhere outside of my home but its great so far!

All I wanted was a simple, no bells and frills pack and play that my daughter could grow in. This one is not only safe, but it is roomy, and it is great to travel with. I'm very happy with this and highly recommend it.

This play yard is great, its much larger than a conventional "Pack n Play" it is also slightly higher for the acrobatic escape artists. It is considerably heavier and moving it from room to room is a bit of a fiasco if you have doorways. This is not one that you would bring on a day to day basis, but if you have a day trip, its perfect. There is no elevated sleep shelf (0-6 month setting) so this is more for the infant that is upright and can sit on his/her own.

Don't listen to all the negative reviews about a smell. I don't know what new plastic product doesn't have a slight smell. it is negligible and should not sway you from purchasing this item. You will be happy you did!

Playpens, (playards) have come a long way since I had my children. I bought this for my grandson. It's easy to set up. The first time you do, might be a bit confusing, but it's very easy. Goes back into it's holder easily too. Very sturdy. Plan on using it a lot this summer for camping trips to the beach and woods. I highly recommend this product.

I just got this in the mail, and it is everything I hoped it would be. The set up took less than 5 minutes. There are quick instructions on the underside of the mattress, so I didn't even use the instruction manual that it came with. I practiced breaking it down as well, and it was easy as pie. Anyone that said it is confusing to set up has to be making it too complicated. I really can't figure out how they got confused.

The mattress has a good amount of padding, and this play pen is extremely sturdy. The wheels on one side make it really easy to move around. It is a large square, so don't expect to get it through a doorway while it is set up.

I will be taking this to Colorado as a travel crib. It's not light as a feather, but it's definitely not so heavy that's it's a pain to pick up. (wife carries it and she's 5'3" and 110 lbs)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product.

This is the large-sized play yard that I have been waiting for. My first child never liked playing in her pack and play because there was really not enough space for her to move around and play in and I couldn't fit both her and several of her favorite toys in it. With my second child, I decided to try and find a larger play yard to see if that would work because I needed somewhere safe for her to play while I was cooking supper or cleaning. Finding the Joovy Room2 was the answer! She loves playing in it and we can fit all the toys that she needs to keep her entertained while I am busy. There is enough room for her to crawl from one toy to the next without even touching the sides. She doesn't even realize that she is confined because she has so much room to play in. It has been worth every penny! I would highly recommend this to anyone.

We have the "'lemon" Joovy and LOVE IT! We only wish we could of got it for our daughter sooner. I was putting it away today since we have moved to a SuperYard XT and I tried for 30 minutes to fold the Joovy down before I had to give up... The instructions on how to fold down are worthless so I decided to Google it and found M. Martin's comment. THANK YOU!! I read your review and folded it down in 10 seconds. Yes it is a little trickier to fold than the pack n play but Joovy is far superior to Graco and well worth the money for all the extra square footage you get and quality of the mesh, bars, etc.... My overall review for this is excellent and I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for the best quality play yard.

I purchased the Joovy 2 in black for my six month old. It is great. Easy to fold up and put out. Plenty of room for him to play. I highly recommend it over all other pack and play items. The sheet sent with it is a little hard to put on but don't give up it will fit, you just have to force it a little.

I purchased a Joovy room 2 play yard for my Granddaughter. It is very easy to move around to a different location in the home since it has wheels on one end and has alot of space for her to play. Would reccomend to anyone looking to purchase for a child.

I am very satisfied with this playpen. It looks very well made. I found it very easy to put up. My 4 year old climbs in and out of it to play with his little brother and this thing does not budge or seem stressed by his weight in the least. The bottom is very comfy and the sheet is very soft. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, large play yard.

I agree with all the positives others have written. We LOVE this item. I must respond to all the comments about stinkiness. Ours had NO ODOR. I don't know if Joovy has altered the manufacturing to fix the odor problem, but we have NO complaints. Does not smell like farts. For those who wrote that the manufacturers must have farted in the box before shipping, one can only assume that your husbands have blamed the joovy. My husband blames the dog- try that instead. ;)

I was looking for the largest and sturdiest of all play pens, and I found it! This thing is awesome. We actually just turned it into a ball pit, but that is a whole other story/review. It is a little heavy, but I can easily carry it on my own. It is a little tricky to put up and take down, but after you do it once its a snap.

This play-yard was everything i was looking for. it's much bigger than a pack-n-play, and my daughter loves to roll around in it. it should be noted, however, it is not a light-weight item. i thought i might take it as something for the baby to sleep in overnight, but if it's just one day, i don't...because it's so heavy.

We love this play yard. Bigger than the pack n play. It's about the same length as our pack n play but double the width. It is VERY good quality, and I am picky. Kind of wish I had bought this instead to begin with but the bassinet feature on the pack n play was nice too the first few months we had the baby.
I was pleased with how easy it was to set up and tear down... after I called Joovy because i couldn't figure it out. I called the 1800# and got a real person!!! She was very helpful. then it was a breeze!!

Red color is great in person!!

the free sheet that came with it was a little tricky to get on the first time... if you don't put it on right it scrunches up the mattress thing so be careful! Don't want that gap between the side and the mattress!

We love the play pen, better yet our daughter loves it too, she crawls all around in it and plays with her toys, it is very large and we will be able to use it for a long time until she is too big for it. It is very easy to sit at my computer and work while she plays. It was very easy to put up, sometimes these things have tricks and require a PHD in engineering to take down and put up. You can get something a lot cheeper but it will not be this nice. As for the smell that someone else commented on, sure it smelled like plastic when we first opened it but that went away quickly, maybe thier got wet in shipping or something? I think that you will love it, we do...

I am very happy with this play yard. It is very roomy and bigger than most play yards I looked at in different stores. My daughter is 10 months old and she is all over the place trying to walk so this is good for a few minutes while I heat up her food, etc. I don't leave her in there very long because she usually wants to get out and roam the living room. I would recommend this over any other smaller playard.

I love this Play Yard. I bought it for my grandson who comes to visit and spends one night a week with me.
At 18 months old I need to have a place to contain him where he can't get into something that may hurt him. This is perfect and he loves it which makes me love it.
It's very roomy and the sunny yellow color makes it a happy place to play.
I would recommend this Joovy Room 2 Play Yard to anyone who has children. It's wonderful, it's spacious, it's very sturdy and it's a big play area for a child.
I got this Play Yard at Amazon cheaper than any other place I shopped for it and it was delivered to my door within a week with no delivery charge. Thanks Amazon.

We just bought our second joovy room2. We are grandparents who were looking for a larger port a crib for our grandson who is very big for his age. Typical porta cribs are too small for him now that he is 2 and we wanted him confined at night when he stays with us so he would not be getting up and into things that might hurt him in our not so childproof house. The joovy is so well designed and the construction so sturdy ( holds up to 50 lbs)! Clean lines and simple colors it doesn't spoil the decor of the room. Easy to set up and break down. It's a little heavy but needs to be to be strong enough for a toddler. Even comes with a fitted sheet. My daughter had never heard of it and fell in love immediately. She ended up taking it home, so we needed to buy another one to have here. She also just bought one as a shower gift for her friend.

Set up was a breeze. Product seems very sturdy. Did not notice a funny odor, as others mentioned.
We like how it includes a sheet to cover the bottom. The bottom doesn't seem to be too hard.
Don't know how easy it is to take down as we have it permanently in corner of a room...

Large space for playing, solid construction, wheels to make it mobile without heavy lifting, and meets expectation. Good product. Did not smell as stated by others. Do not understand why the yellow and red colors were cheaper than the black so if color is not an issue, go for the other colors. Recommended highly. btw, easy as pie to set up.

I ordered this a few weeks ago for my 11 month old daughter who is into everything. I needed a safe spot to have her that was big enough to crawl around and have to say this meets my expectations. I also brought it to a family party and set it up for my daughter and twin 14 month old nieces. It was big enough for all of them to play for a little while so we could eat in peace! Only double edge sword is it is really sturdy and good quality which makes it kind of heavy- much heavier than my pack and play...but worth lugging!

We checked numerous play yards before purchasing this one. Size was important to us because children grow so fast, and need more space as time goes by.
We were not disappointed when we received Joovy Room2. It is sturdy, spacious, and can contain a playmat with all attachments for our six-month old grandaughter for now. The netting allows her to look all around while she is in there, and we manage to play a reduced form of peek-a-boo, which is her favorite game right now. This play yard is a bit bulky, but the trade-off is sturdiness. We're glad we bought it.

We purchased this playpen for our twins hoping to have another place for them to play now that they roll and need to be contained sometimes for safety. The babies are crowded and roll into each other kicking etc. I do think once they are able to sit independently, they will have much more room. The pad is suprisingly heavy. It is sturdy, sets up easily and rolls which is helpful.

This is a nice, large play yard, it folds up nicely and packs away very well. The sheet that comes with it is very nice, thick and comfy. It has lots of great features. However, the base of the play yard smells terrible! The company was very nice when I contacted them about it and sent me a new base. It didn't smell quite as bad as the first one but does still have an odor. I'm hoping that over time this will dissipate.

We've owed our Joovy for over 3 months now and it has been a sturdy and portable playyard. It packs easily in the carrying case and is fairly easy to set up and use. The only drawback has been the rotten smell of the fabric as soon as it was taken out of the packaging, (which smells similar to dried vomit in my opinion). After 3 months of "airing out" I had hoped that the smell would go away but it persistently lingers. Overall this is a decent product but I recommend that it be used outdoors or throughly cleaned with soap and water before use.

Purchased this playyard for my grandson. The size is great, just like the one I had for my daughter when she was a child 24 years ago. Big and roomy. It was not as sturdy as I thought it would be. Two legs are solid and two legs have wheels (which I do not care for). The mattress was not wide enough to fit the bottom, therefore a child's hand or foot could get caught. The mattress sheet was a nice addition. I SENT THIS BACK DUE TO THE MATTRESS NOT FITTING TIGHTLY. Overall - would not have been bad if it wasn't for the mattress. Oh and this playyard is heavy.

I am returning this product because it smells really badly. I called Joovy and they said to give it a few days because it may be the smell of the plastic it was wrappped in when they shipped it from China - it smells like acid, or rotten. I left it to air outside for a couple of days and it still smells. I am concerned about the product's safety for a small baby so it's going back.
