Purchased four of these for use in my home theater. Wanted a narrower standard type of recliner to be used with end tables instead of the standard theater seating with the tacky cups holders.
Important notes:
- Is a dark brown versus black. Not sure why these are described as such, however I knew this going into purchase thanks to other reviews. I am happy because I wanted dark brown, not black.
- This is a very narrow chair. That said, it does fit "larger" adults. I would qualify this to folks up to 275lbs and 6' tall. I read another review at another site where a woman indicated she barely fit in it, and her husband most certainly would not. She did not indicate her size, so that left a vague worry. This is not a chair you will be able to tuck your legs up into unless you are a child.
- Another review I read indicated that the back was short and didn't allow a place to rest your head. I even wonder if that review was about this chair, as I am 5'8" and my SO is 6'2" and this chair is plenty tall enough to rest our heads.
- Assembly was very easy. The two piece construction is great, as it allowed us to get these into our theater through a 30" doorway without any issues at all.
- This is a leather and vinyl match. Important to note in contrary to some of the reviews that might lead others to believe otherwise. Please do note however that it is very well done. All areas of the chair that touch you while seated are leather.
Overall, very pleased with the value of these chairs. They met my criteria, and were everything I expected, which was a decent narrow recliner where I could get four chairs for under $1400 delivered.

Based on the other reviews (many thanks to all the reviewers) bought this chair untried and based on the comments. Looks like the price has since gone up a hundred dollars - as we paid two ninety-nine for ours shipped. It got here in a week shipped on a Monday-received the next Monday. Well packed - out of the box and together in under five minutes (metal interlocking slides on both sides of the backrest - into the base -tooless too)
I am a large man 275 - 6'0" and the chair fits me extremely well and the backrest is tall enough to fully support my head.
Leather is of exceptional quality and on all the seating and arm surfaces.
The color is dark brown - hazelnut comes to mind.
Bottom line - very comfortable - high quality points - will report back on durability in the future.
Would recommend this to anyone in the market for a great recliner for not much $$-eh.

My Dad just got home from abdominal surgery and needed a recyliner. My Dad is not a stay put and sit around kind of guy so I didn't want to spend thousands of dollars on a recyliner that he will use of just a few months. I found this Chicago Chair Company Recyliner. I wasn't expecting much but I was so amazed at the quality of the leather and the mechanics of the chair. Smooth and really easy to use. My Dad loves the chair. At this point he is fully recovered and he loves the chair enough that he is still using it. Matter of fact, my parents fight over who's turn it is to sit in the recyliner.
I give this chair a 2 thumbs up.

It is a great recliner for the price. Though it seems smaller than a standard recliner, it fits most adults comfortably. We bought this chair 3 months back as a rocker for our then 2 month baby and it has done a good job so far. The cushions are neither too hard nor too soft, but just right. The armrestson the chair are wide and provide good support. The leather on the chair seems to be good quality. All in all a good buy.

Our chair arrived today --free shipping and two days earlier than expected. It was easy to move up a flight of stairs when out of the box and two of us had it in place and assembled in less than 5 minutes.
How does it fit in a room with other furniture?
The chair looks great -- almost black -- beside a Victorian Love Seat in the room we use for TV watching. Most of the furniture in this room is antique. The chair fits in very well. Yes, it's a recliner, but it doesn't leap out and shout "Look at me!" The scale is good. This is probably not a "HOME THEATER" chair; but it is exactly what we wanted -- a comfy chair to go in a room full of antiques that would blend.
How comfortable is it really?
Really nice! We are two "Normal to skinny" sized adults -- 6 foot and 5'7" respectively weighing 170 and 120 pounds. Nope -- our dogs cannot curl up with us in the chair -- nor can we snuggle in it together. We have previously owned a recliner that would fit the two of us, or one of us and one dog, but it dominated the room. This chair fits one person in great comfort.
So, I'll spit it out -- if you want a recliner for great comfort at the end of a long, tractor-riding (or any other really, really long tiring) day (that must live in an 1860's farm house) this is the chair for you! It is as comfortable for one as our previously giant recliner that had to live in the study on the ground floor was.
All in all, the perfect recliner for people who want comfort without building an addition to house a home theater. And a totally spectacular deal!

After reading all the other reviews and noticing a decided slant towards the positive, I ordered this chair. Of course, I decided to watch out for the "flaws" and "size" issues brought up, so...here's MY take:
NO issues with this chair what-so-ever! It was shipped and recvd' quickly. It was easy to unpack...easy to set up...easy to move...etc. BUT, the best parts I've saved for last. WHAT a comfortable chair! What ease in reclining! Wonderful, soft, supple leather. And lastly, I've noticed this chair went up 100 bucks since I bought it...so it is all the better KNOWING I got a good deal! Other chairs practically indentical are twice the amount! Overall.....2 thumbs up!

I was apprehensive about buying a chair that I haven't sat in. Thankfully, my worries were for nothing. Ver comfortable and easy to put together. Nice reclining action-no mechanical issues. Might be a little tight in the seat for a larger person (I'm 6'1" and 225lbs). Packaging could've been better as the box was pretty beat up coming from Illinois to Calif, but the chair was undamaged. It was worth the $320 that I paid.

I bought this chair after making the rounds of the Internet and local furniture stores for a comfortable recliner. Most on sale today are HUGE! When I sit in them it's like I'm on a small couch! This causes me to tilt from side to side for support. This chair fits a normal sized human perfectly. It's more comfortable for long periods than my previous brand name recliners, but it is NOT for an overly large person...

I bought two of these from Furniture Crate. Buying two got me a ten percent discount, so price was $314 per chair. The recliners are really comfortable. Big enough for for an overweight geezer, (5'-9", 200 lbs) but compact enough that they don't dominate the living room. The leather looks great. The back and sides are vinyl, but they are a very good match. The only noticeable difference is a very slight difference in texture. They rock nicely, and the reclining/footrest mechanism works smoothly. They arrived ten days after I ordered them. The boxes could have been heavier- one of the boxes tore in shipment, but the recliners made it without damage. I see from another review that Furniture Crate is temporarily out of them. Currently, [..] is advertising them at $338.07 with free shipping and no sales tax.

I have never ordered furniture on line so I was unsure, but this chair arrived quickly, was extremely easy to put together - 5 minutes or less. It is a little difficult to move around because of the bars under it, but not bad. The seat is not sink in soft but not hard either. The sides of the arms on the chair are soft and comfortable. It reclines full length and quite comfortable. I got free shipping and for the price I don't think you can find anything else with this quality at this price.

I decided I wanted a recliner due to increasing back problems. Basically, I have found that I am in the least amount of pain when reclining. However, I hated the look of many recliners I saw - I have a more modern style decor and they were too large and "puffy" looking.
This recliner has turned out to be great. It is a little stiffer than some of the cloth recliners I have tried - yet still soft enough to fall asleep in. While it is narrow, the arms are soft enough that it feels wider while taking up minimal space in my living room. Assembly was very easy - two pieces that basically snapped together. It does not look like an expensive recliner yet it does not stand out as cheap in a basic living room setup. The color, as some have noted, is a dark chocolate.
I am a bit wide through the hips and taller at 200 pounds but I found this chair to be very comfortable. I can turn sideways in it and draw my legs up if I want to. I figured I would clarify this since some people indicated it might be too small for slightly bigger people. (I would not recommend it to my 400 pound friend but it works great for me).

This chair is described by other reviewers very well. It's a dark brown, extremely comfortable, narrow and great for smaller spaces. The only con I'll mention is that the lever on the side feels cheaply made. When I try to put the recliner down to go back to a sitting position, I really have to push that lever hard and it feels like it's going to break. Could just be the one I got. But overall, I gave this chair 4 stars and I think that's about right.

Cut to the Chase ..... Product is excellent quality.. as advertised..... Delivery was disaster. First shipment was delivered to final shipping depot before delivery to shipment destination. At the shipping depot, discovered chair was damaged, so the chair was rerouted back to original shipping point. At this stage everything in the process stopped. No follow up from amazon to expedite the re-shipment, additionally no formal notification to me. I had to inform Amazon of the shipping foul up and convince them to reorder a replacement chair.
Biggest disappointment... missed Christmas delivery....

This is a very heavy duty chair and appears well constructed and long lasting. The reclining mechanism is smooth and easy to use.
I would have given it a five but the width of the seat although not a problem for me could easily be a problem for a lot of people. The seat cushion measures 22 ihches but the seating area available between the arms measures only 17 inches. I am 6 feet 2 inches tall and weigh 250 and my hips hit the arm on both sides. It is not uncomfortable but a snug fit for me. Will enduce me to maintain or loose pounds and that,I guess, is a good thing.
At any rate if you can fit between the arms this is the chair for you. Highly recommended.

I replaced my worn out recliner with this one. As many others have pointed out, it is inexpensive and the leather appears to be of a decent quality, being strong, yet supple, but it has a major design flaw, IMO.
The outside width is the same as my old chair, but the seating area is much smaller. I'm pretty thin, and I almost touch both arms when I sit in it. My smallish dog can't lay beside me anymore. That's a big problem for both of us!
The arms rests on my old chair were each about 4 inches wide, and on this chair the round shaped arms are about 7 inches wide. That's a waste of 6 inches of seat area! The extra padding on the inside arm surface, serves no purpose. You don't sit on it or rest your arms on it. The seat extends under the wasted 6 inches of arm rest width, so I will surgically operate on it and attempt to correct this poor design.
This could be the reason why this chair was so cheap!
This problem was not noticeable in the photos!
